Ok, thanks to John Mitchell, I'm on a roll today.  Let's see if I can get another issue solved.

I've removed some of the fields used by the user profile.  Now I'd like to update the registration email that I receive when a user is registered.  I found where to modify the text for EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_ADMINISTRATOR_BODY in Site -> Languages.  Currently, I have it set as:

Date: [Date:Current]
First Name: [Profile:FirstName]
Last Name: [Profile:LastName]
Telephone: [Profile:Telephone]
Email: [Membership:Email]

In the email, First Name and Last Name are not appearing.  For example, here is an example of a test email:

Date: Monday, 11 December 2006
First Name:
Last Name:
Telephone: 800-555-1212
Email: avalidaddress@gmail.com

I'd like to figure out why the profile values for FirstName and LastName aren't appearing.

I'd also like to know if I can add my custom profile properties to this email.  I tried modifying the text for EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_ADMINISTRATOR_BODY like so:

Date: [Date:Current]
First Name: [Profile:FirstName]
Last Name: [Profile:LastName]
Practice: [Profile:Practice Name]
Practice Administrator: [Profile:Practice Administrator]
Telephone: [Profile:Telephone]
Email: [Membership:Email]

But that email just comes out like this:

Date: Monday, 11 December 2006
First Name:
Last Name:
Practice: [Profile:Practice Name]
Practice Administrator: [Profile:Practice Administrator]
Telephone: 800-555-1212
Email: avalidaddress@gmail.com

Thanks!

I've also had this problem in my portal since the new membership changes.  I've just been ignoring it thinking it was something I had done, but now I have a reason to look deeper.

After reading your breakdown, I have a feeling that the send mail function is not able to see the Profile fields.  I'll see if I can find out why.

John,

Any luck on tracking this issue down?  We've announced our new site to our customers, and we now have users registering.  I've documented the user approval process and delegated the task to our front desk staff.  However, it is a major pain to open the User Accounts page to get the user's information before contacting the customer.  It would be such a blessing if the information was in the email.

I've never done any ASP.NET development, although I have dug through the DNN source code some out of curiosity.  At this point, I don't even know which source files are involved.  Any pointers would be appreciated.

Oh wait, there are no pointers in VB.

Please excuse me bumping my own thread.  This "minor" glitch is tying up a lot of my time.  I've completely documented the steps that our support team uses to approve new user accounts on our portal.  But because the email does not contain the information we need, I have to triage each new account first.  If I could solve this issue, I could remove myself completely from the process.

Is there a way to ping Charles Nurse?  Can I send a private message or something?

Even a pointer as to where to start looking would be helpful.  I might find a solution myself, but I have no idea how the email system retrieves information from the user profile properties.

Thanks!

The code that replaces the tokens in the mail is in     Localization.GetSystemMessage

Sorry, everytime I get started tracking this down, I get side-tracked.
