thurgood, my apologies, but I just took note that 3.3.7 is set up differently than version 4. That information would only apply to version 4, so you can disregard that comment, as 3.3.7, is by default using 2000/2005 connection string, as it is exactly as the connection string commented out in version 4.

Version 3
Server: <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;" />

Version 4
Express: <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>

or

Server: <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"/>

I am having a similar problem. I am running MySQL. Any help in setting up the connection to the database would be greatly appreciated.

DotNetNuke does not work with MySQL, unless you use a third party dataprovider (which is not free). If you want to use a free database, you could try ms sql express
