The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

Yep, I'm having this issue also :(.  Changed from File to memory cache but it didn't help.

If anyone figures out a solution please let us know!

the PathTooLongException is a known .NET 1.1 AND 2.0 issue. basically while we KNOw we can have files paths longer than that 260 characters, the API used for manipulating files is handicapped to 260 to maintain backwards compatibility for some dumb reason; It also exists in Vista as well.

The "fix" is to make your file paths shorter, but sometimes you can't always do that;

addressing files by UNC path doesn't have this issue, but that is not really an option here.

google the error and there is a wealth of information on the issue, but I'm sorry I don't know the fix, just that it is a bigger issue than DNN.

I also received this reply (thanks Allan) ...

I've seen the error before but have no solution. It's a problem with the provider model in the application which generates long file names that IIS can't handle. I don't think it can be fixed, unless you shorten the directory name on your disk.

I've THINK I've found out that the URL that is generated on the click of the link button is:

http://www.mydomain.com.au/Shop/Cart/tabid/165/ctl/Checkout/mid/578/Default.aspx?SkinSrc=%2fPortals%2f_default%2fSkins%2f07-LongSkinNameFolder%2f07-SkinBlueIP&ContainerSrc=%2fPortals%2f_default%2fContainers%2f07-LongSkinNameFolder%2fcontainer0

So, it seems the skin and container names might be passed through in the query string....

I'm not sure if this is even true, but I'm going to try modifying the folder names of my skins/containers - and hopefully if this is possible,  it might reduce my query string length.

Now to play with the folder names -   Fun!

If anyone has any knowledge about whether the skin details are (or are not) passed through with the link it would be great.

Thanks
