I agree with you Harjit.

The fact that DNN will make any made up Url return a valid 200 response header as long as it can find the tabid is not a good thing for SEO.

I just tested and setting includePageName="false" in the web.config does not help either.

This is a serious issue, is their any way to move it to high priorty? Without proper seo pages we all will be effected by google.

True, this could be a HUGE problem for dotnetnuke. I work for a consulting company that has over 100 offices around the world and they want to move to a dotnetnuke platform for their more basic client websites. That most certainly will not happen unless the next version can address this, since each website owner would currently have to run a sitemap and then manually disallow the other pages in the robots.txt. Imagine the PITA factor for a large website? Couldn't really have anything with dynamic content either. Makes me wonder what other SEO pitfalls one would encounter w/ this package.

dangerlarson: you forgot to mention that you're using an alternative FriendlyUrl provider. It looks like you're using an implementation of Scott McCulloch's HumanFriendly Url provider, which isn't a completed project for as far as I know.

Apart from that, the issue does exist that several pages lead to the same content, regardless of whatever provider you're using (unless you've got a proper working one). As long as a valid TabID is provided, a page is returned to the user. Right now, turning off friendly url's is the only option to prevent that, but that isn'n SEO-friendly at all. My suggestion is that we try to create a solution and present it to the core team .

Oh one more thing: have a look at http://www.uschinabiz.com/uscbs/SiteMap/tabid/325/Default.aspx. Your sitemap is messed up, so you really SHOULD contact the developer of that module!
