Hey Guys,

I have successfully installed DotNetNuke once, on our production server, however when I try to install it on our development machine, it's failing during the install process with the error:

"Thread was being aborted"

This error occurs at seemingly random points during the installation process.  I have been searching the internet for answers, but nothing to date has been successful. 

Things I have done, beyond standard install configs:

1) I have completely opened up permissions on the DNN directory where the app is installed. 
2) I have increased the httpRuntime executionTimeout to 600 seconds.
3) Since the error was occuring during module installation, I started to remove the (seemingly) problematic modules, and I would get further in the install, but after removing half the modules, I got the error during the final configuration.  After running the install again, I got the error in the module section again, so it seems to be something random

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

jockmac22 - try this - take out every module ( from the install/module folder) except the links and the html/text module (those are the two modules that are neccessary to load the first page. See whether you're successful at this point. Is your db by any chance on another machine than your webserver? DNN normally doesn't take up to 4 minutes to install although I have seen what you're seeing on slow database servers...

The other thing to try - if this is an option is from a machine that has both the webserver and a database server (maybe your development machine), try running the install from there. This should take much less than 4 minutes and once you have the site up and running,  you can then move it to your box you've been trying this from.

Other last option - 4.4.0 has the scripts re-written so that you start off with 4.4.0 version of the schema and don't have to upgrade from 3.1.0 which is what any version prior to 4.4.0 and after 3.1.0 do.. You could download the 4.4.0 version and try running that.

Thanks Sanjay, I'll give that a run and see what's happens.

To answer your questions, the database server for this installation is on a remote server.  However, I have run into this problem while trying to run a second installation of DNN on another web site housed on the same server as the database. 

Thanks again for the tips.  Will post a status.

I got the install work.  It was definately a timing issue.

I moved the database to the Development machine, and removed the modules.  The install ran very quickly and completed successfully.   I'm confident I could have left the modules in place without any issue, but I do not require the additional modules for development purposes.
