I just installed DNN 4.0 locally. I used the plain install, not starter or source. I want to develop a custom site and deploy it to a shared hosting enviroment. Should I have used the starter kit to create the site ? How do you change the layouts, the skins locally, and modules and deploy it ? Do you edit the template file and controls ?

If anyone knows of some getting started documents that would help me, I would appreciate it. I will probably buy a book, but need to make sure I set it up properly to be able to develop locally and then deploy it and especially to a shared hosting environment where they may control the database and base install.

Thanks,

Mary
