Once again, the default module does not need a key. You are not doing anything wrong. That is the way it works.

OK...then how can I use the 'NavigateURL(ControlKey)' function within DNN to navigate from one module to a custom module. Is this possible as was indicated in the previously refered to tutorial...in which case the tutorial instructs me to put a value in the View module's Key field?

I know this is getting tedious but I don't understand how both hooligannes 2.0 and the aDefWebServer tutorial can both be right?

Default controls for View, Edit or Settings don't need a Key. Also by default, the View control that doesn't have a key is loaded when the module is loaded. When you pass a key, it is because you want a control other than the default view to be loaded. Keep in mind this.

You don't actually navigate from module to module, but from page to page. In code, it is possible to navigate to a specific control of a module in a page using one of the NavigateURL methods. When this happens, Dotnetnuke loads your module alone in the page (all other modules do not appear). However when you simply want to go to a page where a module resides you can use a normal redirect with the full URL or a relative URL with NavigateURL.

Hello there,

I had the same problem as you.  If you look at this post, they offer a solution to your problem.  I did implement this solution and I can now navigate to different views within the same skin.

Hello joenace,

That is a very nice piece of code; I actually have been using it for a while now. I appreciate the effort everyone has made to answer this question but still I am without an answer. Let me rephrase my question:

For example; in DNN if someone wants to load the ManageUsers.ascx they simple use: 'registerUrl = NavigateURL("Register")' then 'Response.Redirect(registerUrl, True)' and they will load the ManageUsers control within the current page. The ManageUsers control uses as a Key the word "Register" which has been setup in DNN as ManageUsers' ControlKey. My question - how do I setup a ControlKey for my custom module so I can call it as I would the ManageUsers? Thanks!
