2006 was a great year for DotNetNukers.  just to name a few, we saw asp.net 2.0, profile properties, better data access with dal +, and performance.

what's in store for 2007?

personally, i hope we Web2.0-ify DNN.
 * i know some of us don't like to hear this but maybe embracing and integrating asp.net ajax
 * maybe creating an httpmodule like UrlRewrite but intercepts edit and navigateurls for no postbacks and maybe have a .config that include or excludes those urls
 * a better movable module subsystem
 * asp.net 3.0?

cast your votes.  what would you like to see?

IMHO the more ASP.Net 2.0 compatibility the better! Currently you have to choose: Do I want to be a DotNetNuke developer or an ASP.Net developer? I’d like to see support for AJAX, but for me the priorities are as follows:

Web Parts
ASP.Net Themes
Membership, Profile, Role provider support (We can dream can’t we?)

The challenge is, how can DotNetNuke embrace ASP.Net 2.0 technology without breaking existing modules?

Thank you all for your hard work!

Brian

What a question!  There are so many things that DNN could benefit from!

For my money, I'd like to see AJAX integration as standard, and the idea about the web parts is good as well.

It would be great to be able to drag-and-drop modules to where you want them placed as well...

Dan Caron talked about Dotnetnuke and Web Parts extensively in his Blog.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?

Didn’t he conclude that Web Parts were not a match for DotNetNuke’s needs and that the existing implementation should stay?
