I just set up DNN 4.4.0 for someone, and apparently I am having issues with the Links module.  So far, the only link type I cannot get to function is the linking to a file on the portal site.  I set the link and all looks fine, but when you click the link, it just sits there forever trying to open/retrieve the file....yet nothing ever happens.

Any ideas?

Have you tried disabling the compression ?? This should be the problem.

PS: I also experiences similar problem with repository module. Another solution is MIME exclusion, but I do not know how to setup... You can check: Compression bugs with file download

I checked the compression and changed it to None, and for a while it seemed to work.  Suddenly I got an E-Mail today, which I verified, that told me that all of the PDF files I have linked to on my Newsletters area, are corrupted.  These links worked perfectly yesterday, and now every file comes up with an error in Adobe Acrobat about the file being currupted and unrepairable.  What happened now, anyone know?

Please read the sticky topics at the top of the forum. This is a very well known issue and has to due with the way the core is handling files. At this time I am not aware of any fix. Compression does have to be disabled or you need to exclude that mime type from compression.
