I've configured succesfully DotNetNuke in my PC, in Localhost. Now, im trying to make my PC a server, and trying to configure it.

But when im trying to access default.aspx it redirects to localhost, to the local host of the PC which is trying to connect me (in this case, my brother, not LAN connected). But we create another document, .htm, and it works perfect. My PC is acting well as a server, but I cannot access my DotNetNuke Portal.

Does anyone know what can be the problem? Thank you

Did you add a Portal Alias for your domain name that the external users are using to access the site?

As bruce mentioned you must add a portal alias for your domain name, or IP address if you are browing directly by IP.

You add portal aliases via the Site Settings section of your site when logged in as host.

Yes, there's an alias pointing to localhost/DotNetNuke where actually the website is located.

There's only this alias created.

The problem is that when anyone tries to access the site through my IP address plus the virtual directory path, the browser is redirected to http://localhost/DotNetNuke and obviously the client PC isn't serving anything at that location.

So: when you type http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/DotNetNuke/default.aspx you are inmediately redirected to http://localhost/DotNetNuke. So you can't see the portal because you're trying to acces your very own web server, not the one at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

The curious thing is that the alias portal is exactly localhost/DotNetNuke which is the location you're redirected to when you try to connect to my portal...

I'm quite lost here, because it kind of makes sense but seems impossible to work this way...

Any help greatly appreciated, thank you.

simply add IP and vDir as additional portal alias, like "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/dotnetnuke".
