Does anyone know if it's possible to link directly to the services/subscriptions page of the user profile?

Since making the post above, I've been trying out the core subscription payment system and found that it just can't be made to work right. It seems to want to auto-renew a role that has an expiry date, but of course, I really just want people to buy the role once, and give them the opportunity to buy it again either before or when it expires.

I've just checked your forum and I see that you've made your optin module available for me to have a look at. (I don't seem to get notifications from your forum so I just check in now and then when I remember.) I'll go and get the download and give it a going over and then the things about subscriptions might lead into that. This whole systems of processing, notifying and renewing paid roles is a something that is just not working with any module and I'm keen to help fill the gap.
