I'm new to DNN. Not new to programming. I opened the 2005 source code version of the latest downloadable version - 34 errors - 18 warnings.

things like :

Warning 2 'DotNetNuke.Services.Localization.TokenReplace' is obsolete: 'This class has been deprecated, please use DotNetNuke.Services.Tokens.TokenReplace instead' D:\Projects\DNN\Library\Components\Localization\TokenReplace.vb 202 DotNetNuke.Library

Error 19 sub 'PopulateChannel' cannot be declared 'Overrides' because it does not override a sub in a base class. D:\Projects\DNN\Library\Components\SyndicationHandlers\RssHandler.vb 15 DotNetNuke.Library

Error 51 Name 'Config' is not declared. D:\Projects\DNN\Website\App_Code\Global.asax.vb 67 http://localhost/DotNetNuke_Maintenance/

What did I do wrong? is there docs on pre compile stuff?

Folks, I was asking for any help on what has to be done to set up the project prior to compiling the first time. Are there any steps I should do prior to compiling the applicaiton. As it stands, I can't imagine anyone would ship the nonsense I compiled the other night, so I must be doing something wrong.

Is there any documentation on any pre compile steps: ie before I compile is there any batch I have to run to ensure references and such are correct?

First, is there a reason you're using the source and trying to compile it?  Second, have you logged any of the errors in Gemini?
