One of the best features is actually when you go to write a message like I am typing right now.  The text provider just seems better.  It has fixed point fonts, seems to have styles and fonts that actually work consistently, has better pasting tools, etc.  Just seems like a really polished text provider.

Hi Joiseystud,

The editor used at the link you specified is actually the Telerik RadEditor.  You are correct, it is indeed an excellent product and that I highly recommend.  It is not, however, free.

Fortunately, Telerik makes a DotNetNuke editor provider for this product, so there is no reason why you could not easily deploy the editor throughout your own site.  Isn't DotNetNuke great?

Brandon,

Thanks. Looks like it in $1000?  Too rich for my site.  Maybe if they offered a $75 version for small sites and just the editor. dont need the entire suite.

I do love DNN.  Hopefully some of the features of the editor you mention will find their way into the DNN core.

joiseystud, I actually do know my stuff. You might be surprised that many things done on that site are capabilities available out of the box for this core module, however, remember this is based on DNN framework for authentication (ie. LiveID) so you need to look at changing your DNN authentication provider. As for the editor, there is a DNN counterpart available which you can see in use with the Core Forum here: http://www.dnnforums.com. I will admit that the core forum lacks some of the 2.0 flashy stuff, but it is possible to integrate it.

Now, the reason you don't see this flashy stuff in the core or the forum module is because of licensing. It is illegal for the core (or anyone) to distribute 3rd party controls, such as the Telerik Editor, under DotNetNuke's BSD license.

I agree.  I should have clarified more I guess.  I mean that I hope the flashy stuff makes it into the FCK editor that is part of the core.  I have nothing but love for the core forum.  You just keep making it better and better and we get the benefits.  Thanks for your hard work Chris!
