I don't know why I didn't think about this before.  What kind of folder and what permissions are on the folder that is being used to store the images?

When you say "What kind of folder" what exactly do you mean? Are you talking about the setting at the top of the file manager. If so, my setting is Standard - File System. And permissions for the image folder are: Everyone - View folder / editor - View and Write to folder.

Sprout:

I unfortunately have to revert back to my original thoughts on your specific issue:

  • The images are on an external drive that became inaccessible
  • The server has a virus program that checks files in real-time (on open) causing sharing conflicts
  • There is a URL rewrite utility or module that has a bug, rewriting the URL for the images
  • The files are in a DNN folder with insufficient permissions to certain users
  • There are other 2rd party modules or server processes affecting the accessibility of the file

I am pretty sure, that this issue is caused by a known bug in the scheduled File sync.

Please login as superuser ("host"), go to Scheduler in Host menu, edit type "DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.SynchronizeFileSystem" and uncheck "Yes" in Row "Schedule Enabled".

Go to Host Settings, and in Section Advanced Settings > Other Setting make sure, that "Auto-Sync File System" is enabled. If you externally (via FTP or in Windows File System) create, rename, move or delete folders inside the /Portals folder of your installation, you will now need to manually perform a recursive file sync using the file manager in Admin menu.
