what was the advice?  restore a backup?

I think we have a big problem since this path doesn't exist prior to 5.0 and not in 5.0.

'/DesktopModules/Admin/PortalAliases/PortalAlias.ascx'

Well..   the dotnetnuke.dll included in the upgrade and install bin folder seems to not be from the compile source it comes with...   this is too much for me.   After a year of development, I'd expect basic upgrades to work.

I will go ahead and take the place of the core team programmer who did this..  and every beta customer that missed it..   and qa..   is there a core team qa team?

Somebody modified this code but copied another reference (which was an xml node) and used that for the directory.  It's not a directory.   How did this get missed??

can't post code blocks.. or I dont know how..

Library\Services\Upgrade    lines 2513 to 2518 are wrong..

AddModuleControl(ModuleDefID,

"", "", "DesktopModules/Admin/PortalAliases/PortalAlias.ascx", "", SecurityAccessLevel.Host, 0)

No it was copy files across (as stated in the post). But no problem Brian glad to help.

If you have fixes please log in support.dotnetnuke.com please if you have fixes so they can be fixed (that will help).

As for me (you stated QA so I assume you targetted me), I think it feels like I logged about 500 issues for DNN 5 over the last year (one working day a week effectively I think), and probably with the same with issue verification, so apols if my work is not up to scratch. However I think that it probably goes far beyond the call of duty for an unpaid volenteer and you should understand this is TEAM effort mainly of unpaid volenteers, so if you have "expectations" I would either contribute (you could have  evaled RC2 and logged some bugs as I was pretty much begging in my blogs/posts) or go for a paid solution/support contract.

Thanks.

Copy files across...  it's bad code not missing files.   What about the other errors.

And no it wasn't directed at you.   I just don't see how after a year of development the admin and host menus are all screwed up.   Why is the upgrade still out there..   as it does not work.   Core Team should show some guts and pull it.   It's not ready.

I'm not disagreeing with you or agreeing with your Brian on your last statement.

The point is RC2 was out for testing for some time, if you have expectations why didn't you log this issue before at RC stage?
We need people to test DNN 5 and in case you didn't know today is a public holiday for most people. Whilst you might not like what you see right now (that's fine, you could be right and you are certainly entitled to your opinion) the way you phrase things hardly breeds encouragement for unpaid volenteers :).... Please be a little more tactful whatever you think unless you would prefer to send us a very large cheque for support (I could do with the money :-).

I certainly value the people who use this platform, and esp those who find out what the problems might be.

Regardless - Thanks and merry XMAS !

Alex
