Stepping through some code today to solve a bug, and I noticed that in DNN 5.0, admin tabs return 'false' in the 'TabInfo.IsAdminTab' property.

Is this correct?  I know that the Admin tabs have been demoted to regular tabs, but I would have expected the 'IsAdminTab' property to still work correctly? Or is this a thing of the past. It's a bit of a trap though : software already written expecting a 'true' will do strange things because the property no longer means anything.

How do you define an admin tab in DNN 5?

I think could be a valid point, an admin tab is a tab where no one but the admin has edit rights IMO.

Timo,

I am not sure if this meets the requirements. if the host creates a new page on a portal and does not grant permission, e.g. because it is not ready yet, is this an admin page? If user management is provided to a dedicated group of sub-admins - is it not an admin page? If a page is part of the admin menu, is this an admin page (regardles of permissions)?

The question is, what do we need the property for, what will be the different behaviour, to decide how it get determined.

Cheers from Germany,

Hmm, you are right you could already create an admin only page which did not return true for TabInfo.IsAdminTab in DNN 4

Mostly TabInfo.IsAdminTab is used in menus that have an attribute "ShowAdmin", which is a bit vague now.

Anyway, there are some modules / skin objects that need to be updated because "admin" tabs now always return false for TabInfo.IsAdminTab.

I guess returning true for children of a tab called admin on level 0, would server the purpose.

(I don't think you can still have 2 pages named "admin" on the same level, so that should not be a problem)
