As recommended I upgraded to 5.1.1 on one of my sites, the day Bill Walker send a newsletter - and I run into problems in the database. It took a whole day to fix with Brians and Ales's help!

Today I would give it another chance on another of our many sites: Upgrading from 5.0.1. to 5.1.1.(All the other sites is 4.9.4, which I'm happy for).

I made a backup of the database, and I downloaded the dnn directory localt first.

When the upgrading was finish, and I go to the portal, I just se this error:

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

All modules is invisible - no content?!

I restored the database whitout luck. It's the same!

What's is wrong - why is this upgrading giving so many problems - (I let my other sites be as they are, now! this is giving to many problems:O)

Can I go back to other versions - best of all 4.9.4 ?

Hope I can get help soon on this issue....

Best Regards,

Per

Make sure you unzip the files correctly, and use the XML merge method to upgrade (google DNN XML Merge)

Hi Alex

I got told in this forum, that I just unzip the upgrade in the dnn folder, and this has been working fine everytime I have upgraded.

I don't know what "google DNN XML MERGE is? Can you explain that?

I know now, that it is one module that cause the problems, but this module was running fine in 5.0.1....

Scott McColluch from Ventrian have been looking into the issue, and it seems to be a problem in the new 5.1.1.

Read here:

The question is now, if we have lost our Real Estate site, until DNN get this issue fixed?

Another question is:

Is it any way, that I can rollback to 4.9.4, that is running whitout problems?

Regards,

Per
