Why does the root item hover CSS style stop working when the IndicateChildren property is set to "True" for the DNN NAV control?

ajsansone,

The root hover works just fine for menu items with children in my skins.  I would guess that there is a conflict in your CSS that is overriding the hover for root items with children.  In NAV Menu skin object  version 2, the order that class tokens appear in your .css is very important and having them in the wrong order could and does affect the rendering of your menu. It is hard to say without seeing your CSS.  Could you post your CSS for us to look at so that we may get a better idea of what you are dealing with?

Steve

The reason why it doesn't work is there's an inline style on the "Indicate Children" attribute you defined.

background-image: url(/images/menu_down.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: right center;

This overrides your CSS values on skin.css file. You either loose the arrow when hovering to the item or keep the arrow and not having the hover state.

Another way to add drop down arrows to your DNN navigation menu is to go to the page settings for each root item with children and disable them. After disabling, I added a ▼ symbol (alt + 31) to the page name.
