Hello, I am trying to install a local community edition of DotNetNuke on my local computer to find out more about it. I am running Windows 7 with IIS 7.5, and SQL Server 2005 express, and the DNN version is 5.02.

I am continuing to fail during the web installation with this error:

File    C:\inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke\Portals\_default\\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources
Error      Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke\Portals\_default\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources' is denied. The Windows User Account listed below must have Read/Write Privileges to this path.

I have been following along with the Installation PDF from this site. Full permissions have been granted the NetworkService user for the DNN root directory. I have also checked permissions on the Log file listed in the error, but this specific file does not exist.

Has anyone encountered this error or know a way around it? I have some knowledge of PHP/Apache, but this is my first go at DNN and IIS.

Thanks.

you need to identify the account, the IIS app pool of the DNN web site is running, and grant permissions. check out latest Blog post from Cathal on this site for details.

Thanks for the response Sebastion.

Granting full permissions to DefaultAppPool allowed the installer to run successfully. If anyone else runs into this issue, I also had to completely remove the root directory of the installation located in inetpub/wwwroot. Removing and recreating the directory and re-granting permissions to DefaultAppPool instead of NetworkServices, completely fixed the issue.

Thanks again.

Found the cure.  open app ppol on II 7, edit app pool defaults and change default id to network service, then restart the site.
