This issue is a strange one to me I have to ask the masses for some advice. I have a client who has been complaining that when they use the editor - it will hang on the spinning circle pop up window and will not go forward. It was not until visitng their office that I was able to determine this was true. The Image below will offer more help and I also have some other insight to how I tried to trouble shoot this with no luck.

As you can see I tried using Firebug in the latest version of Firefox to try and determine what the problem was. I did find that line item 2 was aborting after a timeout of 2 minutes. This was the full link:

http://doyocs.org/DesktopModules/dnnW...

Here are some other tests I tried:

  • I tried both Safari and Firefox
  • I tried other sites within the same instance and sites outside this instance. All of them known to work. However none worked in this clients office. They all hang on this specific area.
  • They are running the lastest version of Mac OS 10.5 and havea ll java updates applied
  • I have the same apple computers in my office and home and cannot reproduce the problem.

The client felt it was thier site specifically with this issue, but I have determined it is not. This happenes to every single site we host (from within that clients office)

Any ideas on why this hangs? What is trying to load at this point? I have the lastest RADEditor installed (1.0.4) and also DNN 5.6.0 running all sites. I know 5.6.1 is around the corner. Does it fix any of the RAD Editor issues that others have seen happeneing... ect, erratic CSS issues and not saving items properly?

Any info would be a big help. Thanks.

there are a few telerik items fixed (see roadmap - http://support.dotnetnuke.com/project/Project.aspx?Tab=Roadmap&PROJID=2 ), but I don't recall any reports of this before. Please get your users to try http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/editor/examples/filemanagers/defaultcs.aspx and see if it also fails there (note: that will use a more recent version of telerik that we aren't introducing until 5.6.2 but it's still good to check)

Thanks for the tips. I will send the link to the client for testing. I will be patiently waiting for the 5.6.2 release as I feel it will help with the updated Telerik Editor.

I asked this before elsewhere and never got an answer. I have the RadEditor already installed. Will I have to uninstall the DNN werk 1.0.4 module before updating to the 5.6.2 release when it comes out?

Just curious. Thanks again for the help.

I'm not a part of that team, but I would imagine that the code from dnnwerk would be given as a code grant and would therefore be added to the radeditor project, so no need to do anything for upgrades. Note: we don't change your web.config settings on upgrade, so if you're using dnnwerk but want to use the core option you'll have to amend your web.config
