The new portal alias feature baffles me. In two DNN, for any file requested through its URL (eg http://www.misite.com/robots.txt) recorded an alias. 
This should work well? 
Now I have a portal with hundreds of aliases, including domains names that are not mine, but point to the shared IP of my web server and not served by any host header configured on IIS. 

Some alias of one of my sites:

www.avizor.info/portals/7/adjuntos/blatgmail.mht

In one of the sites, any request for file extensions .pdf,. swf,. txt,. xml, .zip... resolved with a nice 404 error.

We can say that my web.config has this configuration to work with some features of rewriting url's.

It's a bug, a bug in my configuration? can someone help?

it's a known issue and has been logged http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=14836&PROJID=2 , and will be fixed for 5.6.2

Seriously seems like we need a 5.6.1a service pack much sooner than 5.6.2 is scheduled for delivery.

Have to say its kinda becoming a bit of an embarrassment with clients who see the critical updates warning but who I'm wary of updating because of the many reports of problems - and the rollbacks Ive already had to do on those that insisted.

Wes, FYI up until November we were doing monthly releases, and the overwhelming majority of people did not like that as they felt it was too often (plus it meant our QA did not get sufficent time - a 2 month cycle means that more work is done with a larger guaranteed QA period), which is why we moved to 2 monthly cycles

Is there a way to patch up the security hole in 5-5.6 without upgrading to 5.6.1 ?
