Well the post is still here, but it feels like the thread is locked, perhaps WIll is exerted his newfound pull with dnn. I have been attempting to get ActiveModules to respond to me but they have taken their high ground and refuse to allow my posts and ignore my emails. How utterly irresponsible.

The DNN Corp has, in my opinion, ruined the original wonderful feel of iBuySpy. Yes, lots of good evolved early on, but the in-your-face commercialization of the platform, after so many contributed many hours of effort with a promise to never go commercial was bad enough, but now gobbling up the peripheral space like they are... well, in fairness, they are simply watching Microsoft and following their lead. Now AM is toast, the PAID for upgrade path was a lie and the product is just a sham.

Feel free to flame, i don't mind. It is what it is. A few have had great experiences with the platform, others have not. I am one of those others. Will is an autocrat, pure and simple.

While Joomla may be missing some of what dnn can offer, it offers true open source.

Drew,
If you want people to respond to you then you have to tone down the rhetoric and stop making ad-hominem attacks against the people you want to respond to you.  It is fine to have opinions, but if in the process of airing those opinions you spill over into the realm of poisoning any civil discourse then it is not surprising that you were moderated.

So, you have the choice to continue making statements like "Will is an autocrat" or you can choose to try to engage DotNetNuke Corp. in a civil manner, respecting the fact that not everyone in the community shares your view.

Hey Joe, fair enough, and a reasonable response, given that you do not know me nor my situation with ActiveSocial. I respect that. If you knew me, and the efforts i have undergone, as well as my other professional associations, you would then better understand my reasons for such a post. To ignore my post simply because you feel i was over-the-top would be expected but not do the situation justice.
Will is a sound technician, but there are many shortcomings that you can only understand if you were an Enterprise client. A number of issues were resolved well, but many are left hanging, thus much frustration evolves, and rest assured, i am not the only one.

I brought this here because there is NO community at the social site focusing on ActiveSocial, which is ironic. I will not continue this here as clearly this is meant to support dnn corp's effort, to which i completely understand. I had high hopes for ActiveSocial, but my users have told me overwhelmingly it is nowhere near good enough to warrant their time in trying to use.

Drew,
You are free to discuss ActiveSocial in these forums as it will become part of the core framework later this year.  Just try to keep things civil and remember that we all want the same thing - to see DotNetNuke become the best CMS available for building social websites.  Many of us have been working on DotNetNuke for a long time and realize that we are not always going to see eye to eye on everything. As long as we can show each other a little respect, even as we are in disagreement, then it goes a long way towards making the community a place where new users feel welcome.
