Hey Kelly,

FWIW the latest versions of DNN fully support friendly urls in this format out of the box:

http://somesite/somesection/sometab.aspx

The only format that is not currently supported is
http://somesite/somesection/sometab/
http://somesite/somesection/sometab

Which currently still requires a 3rd party url manager.

Glad you found the error.  I was going to suggest checking the 'use Friendly Urls' option in the Host Settings.  A lot of people forget about that one, and it would fit your symptoms exactly.

Thanks Bruce,

We did have Friendly URL set, which is what made us so confused. What finally tipped us off that something beyond the normal was going on was when we installed a brand new dummy-site using the same DNN install files. We set this dummy-site up with all the same settings as the failing site, and Friendly URLs worked fine. That's when we decided to check the virtual directory in IIS.

What we plan to do is put together a standard Disaster Recovery plan that includes recreating the IIS virtual directory of a failing site as a first step. Had we done that in the first place, we would have saved ourselves almost a week of troubleshooting.

Oh well. We live and learn.   :)
