Love the new installation wizard. Has any one been able to successfully install a fresh instance of DNN 4.5. i am getting the following error when i am at the pont of entering a password and email for the admin.

Error Installing Portal:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Not sure what could cause it this happens on the screen that is asking for the admin password and email. Did any one else encounter this

I am stuck in this state as well.

Or, more exact:

Error Installing Portal:
Error creating Portal

I have tried to change emailaddress, password and everything else, I guess.
Now I am stuck with no more clues what to do.
Any suggestions?

Hey guys, I'm a newbie on this DNN thing... in fact I'm a newbie on using .ASP and MySQL.  I just started today.  So I tried to follow the read me instruction as much as I can and now I see this on my browser:

<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Explicit="True" Inherits="DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" %>
<%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" Namespace="DotNetNuke.Common.Controls" Assembly="DotNetNuke" %>
<asp:literal id="skinDocType" runat="server"></asp:literal>
<html>
<head id="Head" runat="server">
    <meta id="MetaRefresh" runat="Server" name="Refresh" />
    <meta id="MetaDescription" runat="Server" name="DESCRIPTION" />
    <meta id="MetaKeywords" runat="Server" name="KEYWORDS" />
    <meta id="MetaCopyright" runat="Server" name="COPYRIGHT" />
    <meta id="MetaGenerator" runat="Server" name="GENERATOR" />
    <meta id="MetaAuthor" runat="Server" name="AUTHOR" />
    <meta name="RESOURCE-TYPE" content="DOCUMENT">
    <meta name="DISTRIBUTION" content="GLOBAL">
    <meta name="ROBOTS" content="INDEX, FOLLOW">
    <meta name="REVISIT-AFTER" content="1 DAYS">
    <meta name="RATING" content="GENERAL">
    <meta http-equiv="PAGE-ENTER" content="RevealTrans(Duration=0,Transition=1)">
    <style type="text/css" id="StylePlaceholder" runat="server"></style>
    <asp:placeholder id="CSS" runat="server"></asp:placeholder>
</head>
<body id="Body" runat="server" bottommargin="0" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" rightmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">
    <noscript></noscript>
    <dnn:Form id="Form" runat="server" ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" style="”height: 100%;">
        <asp:Label ID="SkinError" runat="server" CssClass="NormalRed" Visible="False"></asp:Label>
        <asp:PlaceHolder ID="SkinPlaceHolder" runat="server" />
        <input id="ScrollTop" runat="server" name="ScrollTop" type="hidden">
        <input id="__dnnVariable" runat="server" name="__dnnVariable" type="hidden">
    </dnn:Form>
</body>
</html>
Honestly I have no idea what that means. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Jason, I don't think you can use MySQL with DNN (unless they made a provider I'm not aware of).  You'll need to use SQL instead (it's different).  You should be able to download SQL Server 2005 Express for free which should work.  Of course I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

I'm too poor for anything other than the community version

Jason:

  If that is what you are seeing when you browse to the web page, then it sounds like your web server doesn't support ASP.NET.  Are you hosting your web site on your local machine (http://localhost/blah blah blah), a remote server in your intranet or an external web hosting service?  I've found that not all hoisting sites support ASP, or if they do you either have to request it or pay extra for it.  If you are trying to host the web site on your local machine, then what opsys are you using?  Do you have IIS running or are you just browsing to the .aspx file?
