I don't know if I have ever had a DNN upgrade that goes well :( For good or bad, that has meant I have tended to delay upgrading, probably for too long. And, sure enough, my latest upgrade efforts have been less-than-successful.
So, I am trying to upgrade from 6.00.01 to 6.02.04. I followed the instructions here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...
First question - wouldn't it make sense to link to some documentation from the page on which the upgrade (and other) packages are available? It took me too long to find this (amidst tons of outdated docs about updating from very old versions). Anyway, that aside....
The upgrade log reported indicated success (multiple times, one per version) for "Executing script", "Executing application upgrades", "Cleaning up files" and "Updating config files" (so, about a screen file of "Success" lines"). Then things went downhill.
Although some modules got upgraded OK (core messaging and Member_Directory being examples), the vast majority failed (marked simply as "Error!"). No indication of the nature of the error (another issue, for a supposedly mature product) - just "Error!".
Oh - and by the way - after reporting maybe 25 lines with "Error!", I then see a message that says "Upgrade Complete". Huh. I'm not filled with confidence.
I click the "Continue to your site" link and I am given the valuable information "DotNetNuke Error" and "An unhandled error has occurred".
Sigh.
How can I start troubleshooting these issues.
Thanks.
