I think the issue is linked to using DNN secure folders. The following file in the DNN source code does not contain extensions for new office documents:

dotnetnuke\common\utilities\FileSystemUtils.cs

Ok, I have installed a fresh copy of DNN 06.02.05, went straight to file manager, uploaded a .xlsx file into the root folder of the website and I have replicated the problem. Tried to download the file by clicking on the file name and it attempts to download and open as a .xls doc rather than a .xlsx doc. Using iis 7.5.

Hi Mark,

I have just tried this on a fresh install of DNN 6.5.2. Could you let me know if it was a fresh install, or has it been upgraded from previous versions?

I have tried this on a fresh install of DNN 06.02.05 and 06.02.07 both are running into the issue. Steps I took to test:

1. Install DNN
2. Go to file manager from the admin menu
3. Upload a .xlsx file to the root of the portal
4. Click on the link to the file from the file manager module
5. Downloads as a .xls document and fails to open in the browser due to this in IE8. Firefox downloads with .xlsx.xls double extension and also fails to open the document.

Mark says it works normally in his install (06.05.02). Has anyone else ran into this issue with DNN version 6?

It would be useful if someone else could confirm if this issue exists on their DNN6 install so I can submit it as a bug.

Anyone, please??
