We have a request to create a responsive skin, but the persons want to have buttons on the left side, vice having them along the top.

The issue is, I haven't found a responsive skin example where the page buttons are along the left side for normal browsers, but once the website is shown in a mobile device (or lowered resolution), the menu button appears at the top.

Anyone have an example, or know how to accomplish this?  Thanks..

In a nutshell the HTML:

<div class="Left">Your Menu</div>
<div class="Content">Panes etc.</div>

 CSS:

Desktop: .Left{float:left} .Content{float:left;}

Mobile: .Left{float:none;} .Content{float:none;}

Unless I'm missing something, Bootstrap would do that by default.

(Left Buttons)

(Center Pane)

(Right Pane)

...This would collapse to having the left pane on the top, then the center pane, then the right pane on the bottom.

ugh... can't we have the forums remove scripts and not all HTML... or just encode it or something? It's a little silly to not be able to easily post HTML examples in forums for web-based software.

Hi Jeff,

Another option would be to create 2 bootstrap navs, 1 for desktop, on the left (large devices) and another for Mobile, on the top (small devices)

To show the correct menu use the bootstrap responsive utilities 'visible-lg-*', 'hidden-lg' etc., found here:

http://getbootstrap.com/css/#responsive-utilities

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Geoff
