This thread is about a year old. By now everyone should have taken the proper decision on what best fits their needs. The OP was looking for contributors. First of all, PA is not open source. If you want to add features to it, you find someone who will do it for you, either for free or for hire.. privately.

AFAIK, PA is not in active development so find another best alternative. Most probably you will NOT find something that will do everything PA did. Find workarounds and move on. Some people mentioned commercial alternatives. It makes no sense to keep complaining that none of them does *everything* PA does. I haven't seen any good commercial module that costs $25 and is open source. This is an exception and not the standard so stop expecting other modules to be in the same league. It takes hundreds or thousands of hours of development hours to create a good commercial modules. A .NET developer time is at least $50/hour. So expecting a module for $25 is a shot in the moon. The developer has to sell hundreds or thousands of copies to recoup his investment and make some profit. $200 for a DNN module is not out of this world. You will NEVER EVER find a developer who can create one in 4 hours. ($50/hr).  DNN modules don't sell millions of copies like Windows or Office. It's relative, Software in a niche market will cost more than software than sells millions.

To reopen this old thread was not me! likely I'm not the alone to have this problem! I'm not searching for alternative *everything* PA do, but I'm searching for what I need!!!...and sorry to me before all that at today I'm no able to find a valid alternative solution!
The price is the latest of my problem, for this reason I put it as the last point and however if you haven't seen any good commercial module that costs $25 it's because you have not known Ventrian for over ten years. Your argument here on development costs is in the wrong thread, not only because here we do not speak of this but also because partially I agree with you.
Lastly, I never said that PA is open source but only with source code and this allow you to do advanced customization for your use and understand the module usage in deep! About open source I spoke only about Open Url Provider.
The truth is that Ventrian is leaving a void in the community of DNN and no one has yet taken advantage of this while I continue to waste my time here talking about what many do not want to hear!
Regards.

PA hasn't been updated in a while. It seems to be a one man shop and the developer has no time to update his modules. That's according to earlier replies. People can't find good replacements.. So now what?  What do you want from the people here? No one wants to volunteer and do the work. You have the source for the module.

It seems to me that your only option is to hire someone to do the work? What's wrong with this option other than it will cost you? I don't see any other solution other than hoping that one of the current similar module vendors will implement the features you want.

So Ventrian left a void. That void might affect 5 or some small number of users only. No vendor is going to invest resources for a just a few users unless you're willing to pay them the cost.

Find a developer here or on a site like freelancer.com to do custom work for you. Just complaining here won't help.

This is what I do if I were looking for a particular module:

 - Search the store for all similar modules.

- Try them out.

- Contact each vendor and send them a list of my requirements.

- For the ones they don't support, ask them if they have plans to support them. Some vendors like dnnsharp implement features if they get enough funding from users.

- Check out Codeplex, Github and DNN Forge for open source alternatives.

If nothing from the above helps, I'll take matters into my own hands and do it myself if I really need it.

I'm not a developer but some developer vendor that is reading here could be interested to fill this gap! I'm sorry that you are seeing this as free work request!
If I were able I would know what to do ... continue the work of Ventrian saving a lot of time for a new business chance!

The OP post was about seeking contributions.. just in case this thread is continuing on the same premise. My replies are also for the general public

Your best bet is to contact vendors directly. Don't depend on having them reading the forums. As I said earlier, it's not clear how many people are asking for a certain feature. 5 max? That's nothing for most vendors. That's not an enough demand and once they are done, this demand might be gone as people have gone to other alternatives. I am just trying to help you to look at the whole picture.
