if users should just be able to select general language, you need to have at least 2 languages enabled in Admin > Languages and the skin applied to your site needs to include the [Language] skin object.

Thanks again Sebastian,

I have 2 languages enabled in my site and I created a custom skin and added the LANGUAGE skin object, it still displays only for the admin/host. Here is what I added to my skin file:

<object id="dnnLANGUAGE" codebase="LANGUAGE" codetype="dotnetnuke/server" ShowMenu="False" ShowLinks="True"></object>

Ok I finally managed to display the language switch for the anonymous user, I was able to do this by checking the "Active" checkbox next to each language (i.e. not the "Enabled"), so the language switch is present on the page, the admin/host user can switch the language, but when the anonymous user clicks the other language link the system redirects him to the homepage, e.g: I have two languages Dutch/English, the default is English, if the anonymous user clicks the Dutch language link, the system will redirect him to "localhost:11027/de-de", which then redirects him to the default language homepage "localhost:11027/en-us", what am I missing??
I can't figure out what is causing this bahavior, it's like the anonymous user doesn't have the permission to enter the dutch site.

Appreciate your help.

please note: de-DE is German ("deutsch"), not Dutch.
Anonymous users will be directed to the language preferred by the browser.
Redirection after language selection should keep you on the same page, but might be modified by the localization method you are using.

Thanks for the correction :)

you are right, switching language should redirect the user to the same page but on the other locale, the method I used for localization is the "Enable Content Localization" which create two copies of the page, one on each locale, but now, as I said the anonymous user is unable to enter the "Deutsch" site, even if I navigate to www.mysite.com/de-de ====> it redirects the user to the English locale.
