Ok feel free to kill the password for that login. I looked into it, can see it happening, but I am still no closer to knowing why. Would you feel comfortable allowing me host access? If so, please email me again. I did also encounter the IIS errors you mentioned. It would appear that something may not be set-up correctly at the host with regards to those. With those issues going on, I would not go live with that site until they are resolved.

ncgoose,

Not to add to your daily tasks, but I am also receiving this issue. I get this error upon editing a link. Creating a link works fine.

Like you, I too believe this to be a hosting permissions issue during setup. If you need more info, please let me know.

ncgoose,

Something interesting just happened. I just uninstalled the Links module from DNN and reinstalled the latest. Everything seems to be working now. Maybe there is something wrong with the upgrade process to the latest version?

Previously, I had done the following:

1. Installed 4.4.1
2. Encountered the links edit error.
3. Upgraded to 03.03.06 of the Links module.
4. Still same error.

Now after completely removing the module and reinstalling from scratch, the error is no longer there. One thing I did do though is export the content before uninstalling the module and then imported after fresh install of module. Not sure if this matters.

Shane,
I actually know what the issue is now. It is the one that I originally thought it was, but was not sure. This is due to the fact that version 03.03.00 of the links module has a bad sproc. I posted the fix to this on the project blog quite some time ago. Here is the link to it:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/BlogsDotNetNuke/tabid/825/EntryID/1081/Default.aspx

You can run this fix as the Host user (super user) by going to Host -> SQL and executing the SQL statement. This will fix the sprocs to use the proper thing. I will look into the upgrade process and see why this is not working.

Andrew - Thanks a ton for helping out with the testing. I am sorry it was all for nothing though. The above like will correct the issue for you and anyone else in this thread as well.

Just to close the loop...my issue is now resolved.
Thanks, Alec for your help!

Rather than running the SQL script to fix the issue, as the link above suggests...

I completely uninstalled the links module, and reinstalled Links version 3.3.6
(as opposed to simply upgrading to 3.3.6 as I had done before)

On the contrary!!!....my issue is now resolved, and I understand why it occurred....if this helps others, it was time well spent!

I hope DNN version 4.5 will come with the updated Links 3.3.6 by default.
