Hi,

There is a third party module called Smart-Thinker Events that has an odd behaviour with the FCK editor. Basically, one runs through a short wizard to create events. At one point one adds a description in the editor. When using FTB, the description turns up faithfully in the event listing, but when using FCK, it does not. no erros occur, but the text vanishes from the editor window upon moving to the next page.

The developer, Rodney, points to FCK as the culprit so I'm just raising the flag in here to see what the FCK team thinks. My post on the issue is here: http://www.smart-thinker.com/Support/Forums/tabid/111/forumid/9/threadid/2174/threadpage/1/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I have this installed on DNN 4.37 with FCK Provider 1.0007.

I'm sure Rodney will be keen to have his module working with the now core FCK editor provider and will help try and sort it out.

Regards,
Rob

An editor with provider just return a portion of text, and the module needs to handle it. As there are no issues with FCKEditor and other modules, I tend to point the issue to the module.

Hi Sebastian,

This is the odd thing - I am merely assigning and and reading from it, and my code has not changed in 1.5 years. It works with the FTB Editor but not with the FCK Editor.

The only oddity that I think could be contributing to this issue is the fact that I use the ASP.NET Panel control as a wizard (I am not sure if you have ever created an event in the Smart-Thinker Events module). This means that when you navigate between panels it posts-back and hides the panels not being shown. I assume the controls repopulate themselves with their viewstate - could this be related to the problem perhaps?

Here is the code that I use to read and assign it:

    txtEventDescription.Text = Server.HtmlEncode(smartThinker_EventInfo.EventDescription);

    smartThinker_EventInfo.EventDescription = Server.HtmlDecode(txtEventDescription.Text);

could it be related to the encoding statements?

I understand this is a little hazy, but if you can shed any light on it it would be appreciated....

Rodney,

I am sorry, I have not used SmartThinker Events yet. I would also like to know, what is missing - the whole content or only part of it. Maybe you can create a debug version that prints out the text when getting from / setting to editor control for further investigation.

If you could let me know what you find out Rodney, I will work with it.

Thanks
