I can't get the Forums module to notify me of new posts.

1. DNN successfully sends me SMTP verification emails when I test it through the Host user settings.
2. The thread I'm posting to does indeed have the "email me" box checked.
3. The individual reply I post also has the box checked before I hit Submit.

No love, though. No emails ever arrive after I post.

Are there commonly-known gotchas regarding the Forum module and email notifications.

Thanks for any, any help or clues whatsoever.

Hey, I am not sure of the issue. Some users have had no problems while others have not been able to get this to work. I am really not sure what the difference is and to be quite honest I am hours away from a beta release of the next version which is a complete overhaul. You may not believe it, but it almost pains me to say this, please give us a bit more time and upgrade to the new version. We will require 4.4 core or later though.

Hey, that's okay. And it pains me to ask this--because I know how hard to estimate these things--but do you have any idea what "a bit more time" will be? I'm really just looking for a days/weeks/months thing.

I'm thinking about deleting my forum module, then replacing it. I didn't get the SMTP settings straightened out until *after* the forum module was placed and configured, so I wonder if it might help to just start over with its configs.

well, I once has the same problem, i found this is because my smtp server needs certification. Forum email currently use SMTPMail object, which doesn't support smtp authenticate, thorugh the mail utility used by the framework support smtp authenticate, that's why when I test used the default smtp setting works, but forum email doesn't work.

So, will the new version of forum use the stardard mail utility of the DNN framework?

Thanks
Mike
