Clean install, no errors, totally successful, added no modules, no child portals. Changed skin from default DNN blue to the DNN grey skin on the default portal as superuser, and now the site is totally inaccessible:

It was, btw, the vertical skin that caused problems ... the horizontal menu is fine. Appears to be related to this error for the vertical menu:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.DNNTreeNavigationProvider' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. File name: 'DotNetNuke.DNNTreeNavigationProvider'

It appears that in this case an assembly may be missing from the starter kit - this might explain why Alex cannot validate this (if he is using a different package or an upgrade from a previous install).

I have verified that both the Install package and the StarterKit package are missing the altrnative Navigation providers.  This is only an issue when choosing the vertical menu skins.

1. When will the fix be released?

2. Is there a work around solution/fix? Step by step instructions?

This seems to be a pretty major bug/issue. I dont want my users clicking the Blue Vertical skin and Crashing the site/All sites!!!

download a different package, say the upgrade version, and find in the bin/ directory some dlls that were not included in the install and (I believe I have read) starter versions.

One of these dll files is DotNetNuke.DNNTreeNavigationProvider.dll. Upload this to the bin/ directory of your installation, and then test vertical menu on a test page.

There are a few threads that list a handful of other dll files that also did not get into the install package, with some justification it seems as they aren't all necessary. However, I think the above dll file was not included by mistake as vertical menus are necessary to support.

There are some other alternate menu providers among the missing dlls. I have not tested to see, but I think it is just this one that is required for vertical menus.
