I got things working now... that is I have a DNN site installed and running using IIS7 and MSSQL 2005 Express.  Rather than using the starter kit in VWD2005, I downloaded the DNN source, Unpacked it to my WWWROOT folder, made a new website in IIS7, renamed release.config to web.config and hit the browse link in IIS7.  Too simple and I wish I had tried it way sooner.  I will have to try a few more scenerios with the Starter Kit.

I am getting used to the new IIS, and I really like Vista, but things like this drive me nuts.  I spend so much time getting just the basics, it leave me no time to learn what I want to learn and that is Module Development.

Thanks for helping out.

aah, that makes sense!  I didn't know you were using the starter kit.  I was having problems trying to use that to build a new site even on Windows XP.

I just got done setting up my secondary development environment on Vista.....it went real smooth.  But since you are running Vista I thought I would share this helpful link with known issues from Microsoft
