I am also running into a problem connecting to a second instance of SQL Server 2000. I can connect just fine with Microsoft Query Analyzer, so I know the information I am using is good. However, the DotNetNuke install script returns the error:

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 03.03.07

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

I can't find a "connectionStrings" section in the web.config file. The only connection info I have is in the appSettings section (where sqldev2 is the second SQL instance):

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=ibcntsqldev\sqldev2;Database=myDatabase;uid=accountName;pwd=accountPassword;" />
