What we would like to do is provide this functionality to all of our hosting customers. From what I have read in the Documentation I think I understand that I have to create a new website and Database in SQL for each site that is cnofigured with a DNN portal? Is that correct? I am asking because it seems like a lot of work to setup manually for each client.

Thanks in advance,

Troy

This is not true.  You only need to setup a new Database in SQL for each DNN install you want.  What you could do is setup one database for one install and then use this install to create new 'child/parent' portals.  There are several ways to create new portals on this install and I recommend viewing the documentation to get a better understanding of this.

Ok, I read back through the documentation and I think I need to be more specific in my questions.

I have 3 customers:
abc.com
qrs.com
xyz.com

I want each one of them to be able to cnofigure their own website and such using DNN. I don't see how I can do this scenario using the Parent/Child portal setup through one Virtual Directory under one domain. It still looks to me that if I want to be able to do this on multiple domains in multiple directories that I have to setup one for each one...What am I missing?

Thanks again.

DNN supports what we call "site virtualization": host multiple sites/domains under a single installation. So this is possible by default.

But this is not the single piece to setup, you need to correctly configure your IIS and/or DNS servers to point all that domains to the same virtual directory. The when you create a new portal in dnn you can designate it as a "parent portal" instead of a child one, and assign it a full new domain. If the domain is correctly configured this will work without any problem.

Each different portal will have it's own "home" directory under the /portals folder on the dnn installation, so the files will be logically separated to maintain site integrity.

Hello,

I think what is being said here, and if i am on the right tracks, i am also having the same issue. I have a few clients on DNN now, where they have administrator rights to their portad (ID) but the also see other clients skins and containers to choose from in the drop down list, how can this be personalized??.

Also i have portal store and form creator and a few other module installed on my DB, but i don't want my clients, when in admin mode, to be able to use these modules..

Please help.
Regards
