OK you aren't going crazy but it is weird.
When I tried accessing the first site with IE7 I recieved the cannot display message.  There is something 'flashing' before the cannot display message but I haven't been able to catch it.  However, if I refresh in IE7 the page loads then if I refresh again the page flashes the bit of info and doesn't load.  Must admit I have never seen this before.
the same thing is happening when I click any of the links you have on the main page.
In FF the first load is quick and OK but reloading/refreshing the page results in 'nothing' it sticks at "transferring data from..."
Just wondering have you got compression turned on?  If so turn it off and see if that improves anything.
Also are there any errors in the logs? If so what are they?
I would hazard a guess that there is something wrong with the install and IE7 is being a bit more pedantic than FF and IE6.
Sorry I haven't been able to provide a quick fix.
Antony
Hopefully someone else might also have some ideas

Yes, that's exactly what's happening here.
And I checked on different pc's before posting my question inhere.... I know it may seem strange, but the only thing I can come up with is that something went wrong with this standard install from godaddy, this metropolis thing.  I am aware that DNN 4.5 is about to be released very soon, so my plan is to wait for this and try a manual update first and if that doesn't work I want to try a fresh manual install, which doesn't seem to be any problem, since there isn't anything actually on this site.
So I will await the arrival of the new DNN version and if I get stuck afterwards, I will ask again inhere.
Thanks Antony for your help so far and ofcourse if it gets solved after applying an update to the site I will report this inhere.

Had another thought.  Try changing the skin to another one.  The problem must be something to do with what is sent to the browser so changing the skin might fix it. The main DNN application appears to be working OK or we would be seeing errors no matter what browser

That's not the solution to the problem, infact I already had another skin installed, but put everything back before posting the links inhere, in case that would raise some questions, I wanted to have the site as original as possible, so I shouldn't have to do that afterwards.
Infact, maybe this may help..... these other sites in the links are portals inside the same DNN site, I had to install another skin, in order to have this thing working.... I couldn't add a new portal with the standard DNN template, so I had to use the template from another skin.
Or maybe I am messing up 2 things now.... templates and skins (I think they are practically the same) but in case they aren't this might not make much sense and I need to look into this better.

Got it working.
I didn't know anything about the compression.... atleast not that it is setup as a standard option and where I can switch this off.
I know it was allready mentioned earlier in this thread, and that's actually how I came about... I was reading the posts inside this thread and searched for any compression settings on my site.
Now it's still strange that this compression works under firefox and IE6 and not under IE7, but so far the problem is solved.
Thanks again.
