All of a sudden my DNN 4.4.1 install started throwing up this error (nothing was changed or installed on the server). I have searched these forum's archives for info but could find none. My DNN install is in a full trust shared environement. Any ideas on what to do? My site in the meantime is completely hosed. The error is below. Thanks, eoghano

Try logging in as host and going to Host > Host Settings + Advanced Settings + Performance Settings : Page State Persistance

If it is set to memory, try setting it to Page.

Thanks John for the reply and advice. However I cannot even log in as the login page gives the same error. I tried to restart the app (by uploading the web.config file with an extra space added into it) but that did not work either. Any more ideas? Sure am kinda stuck. Thanks, eoghano

I've narrowed down the problem a bit more...

If I am not logged in I can browse the site without a problem. As soon as I submit the logon credentials for Host or admnin I get the problem. Even if I then hit the 'back' button the pages I was previosuly able to see now also show the problem. The only way I was able to browse the site again was to clear out my browser's cache, close the browser and re-start the browser. Hopwever, on one occasion I was able to log in as a non-admin user.

Any ideas? If I could onlu log in just once as Host I could do the check taht John Mitchell advised above...

I just checked some (offline) notes I have about my DNN configuration and discovered that I have Page state persistence selected under performance settings (which J. Mitchell recommends above). So any other ideas for trouble shooting this one? I do also confirm the following other Performance settings for my portal:

-> Page State Persistence: Selected "Page"
-> Module Caching Method: Selected "Disk"
-> Performance Setting: Selected "Moderate Caching"
-> Authenticated Cacheability: Selected "ServerAndNoCache"
-> Compression Setting: Selected "Deflate Compression"
-> Compression Level (Deflate): Seleceted "2"
-> Use White Space filter: NOT selected

Could one of these settings be an issue in my hosted environement?
