I have installed DNN 4.0.02 with sql server 2005 (connectiongstring data source=localhost) and it's working.

I have configured IIS that it works with : http://localhost/

It works also fine when I replace localhost for 192.168.1.110 (my local IP-adres), in internet explorer on the 192.168.1.110 machine

On IIS root I have placed a simple file which I can reach from intranet and internet (on intranet 192.168.1.110/hello.htm with machine 192.168.1.12). the file default.aspx is there. I can see it.

But when I want to reach DNN from 192.168.1.12 ==> http://192.168.1.112 or http://192.168.1.112/Default.aspx or http://192.168..1.112/DotNetNuke1/Default.aspx

I got the error the page cannot be found

Check the database Table "PortalAlias".  In order for DNN to work correctly there must be an entry in the database corresponding to the host part of the url.

For instance if you install with localhost/dotnetnuke, then the PortalAlias is "localhost/dotnetnuke" and using an IP address 192.168.1.12/dotnetnuke will not work, either from the local machine or a remote machine.

If you add a record with the IP address of the machine that DNN is installed on it should work.

Thanks for this usefull tip. First I have added my local IP-adress. That was enough to let it work on my intranet Afterwords I have added my external IP-adress (and the location where dotnetnuke was installed) http://ip/dotnetnuke2 (name of application).
