Currently I am getting the below error out of the blue when trying to access my Host Settings for my DNN installation.  I am going to try to run the upgrade to 4.5.1 to see if this corrects the issue but am not too confident.  I really do not want to have to restore as it has been a while since I have entered the host settings page so I am not sure how long this has been corrupted like this.

I was having the same problem. In addition to that, I was having problems with adding pages, changing the settings of all the modules. I was told to check the site log. Well, it doesn't help me much, but I dont know how, I could access my host settings after an hour or so without doing anything.
I sincerely hope some one answers this thread in simple language and step by step procedure if its lenghty. This seems like a common problem and is not completely answered on this forum- I researched.
I think DNN s forum should have a separate group for common errors and questions with solutions. And, for anything beyond that we can always use these forums.

Unfortunately I have not had any luck as such yet.  I am preparing to go ahead and install in a new directory at this time and start the process of moving what content I do have over to the new installation just in case any additional modules I may have added have caused this issue.  Unfortunately the site log does not really reveal a lot for those of us that are not too strong in the programming realm yet.  The bad thing though in my case is that the site log is also having errors as well when I log in as the host user, even as admin.  So at this time I am fearing that the only option may very well be a full re-installation.  Anyone know how I can easily move my users information over to my new database?

I dont know if you should reinstall all of it again. I don't even know if you can save your user info and content or where it is saved. I hope someone provides you an solution before you do it. I know, I have reinstalled DNN like 100 times and I am still having problems with my site. I have two more sites I have to work on, but the one site, which is running with some problems, took so much time that I have started thinking that building a website was a bad idea. Its consumes so much time and especially, when you are new and you are not in website/Tech business and do not intend to make it your business. DNN has such great features and modules, no doubt, but it also has so many problems in itself that it makes regular people run away from DNN. Additionally, we also have problems with out hosting companies. Some dont let DNN install on the root etc etc.

Ok, I am ranting now. Sorry. Best of luck.

Well I did decide to go ahead and re-install completely at this time which seems to have been the best idea.  The site is up and fully functional again and I have already moved all users into the new site, which this time around sites at the root anyways instead of a subdirectory.  I wish you the best of luck and the only real good recommendation that I can make is to keep regular backups as that is the best option.
