Arnt,

please be aware, that the default.aspx in a child portal subdirectory is only used to redirect to the main directory with additonal parameters. I suggest to create enother child and use the default.aspx created for it (you can afterwards safely delete the new directory).

Leupold, thanks for the tip.

So you think the install is correct, and I should proceed with upgrading my live site?

You don't think there is something in the upgrade package that needs to be corrected?

Thanks again
ArntK

ArntK,

I am not aware of anything mentioned, that shall prevent you from upgrading (AFTER backing up site and database of course).

Just a few days ago, we upgraded the http://demo.dotnetnuke.com site using the standard upgrade package.  This site contains approximately 400 or so live child portals (and 800 or so additional expired child portals) at any given moment.  That upgrade proceeded smoothly and took only a few moments to complete.

Before upgrading ANY production site, however... I would want to have at least one perfectly clean staged upgrade.

The code you pasted above as having been from default.aspx is the code from a CHILD portal default page (typically found in \Portals\_default\subhost.aspx).  The only change to default.aspx between 4.4.1 and 4.5.3 was the addition of a text/css attribute on a style tag, the contents of subhost.aspx did not change at all.

Hope that is helpful.

Cheers

Leupold and Schott, thank you for you input.

You are both talking about child portals. The Default.aspx was also wrong for the Host site. Do you have any suggestions to how this could happen?

Also the same thing happened on my live W2003 Server and my XP machine after moving the site down to my XP machine. I think there are now 2 other treads about this problem.

Again thanks for you input.
