I'm wondering if anyone can throw a suggestion, cause I'm running out of ideas. My portal is working suprisingly fast in every browser but IE, but something about the site kills (i.e. locks the browser up sold processing something) IE for a good 20 to 30 seconds before it starts rendering. You can check http://jdb.shacknet.nu as this is my local dev site.

I realize this is a long shot, but would anyone have any remote ideas as to why this may be?

Are you using the standard DNN menu?  Any ajax modules?

Have you seen this article (and patch) from Microsoft???

You can also test the performance by turning off the phishing filter too (in IE7).

Also, IE6 had a performance issue because in some instances it would try to do Windows authentication against IIS automatically.  I believe there are MS articles on that too.

By the way, IIS 5.1 on XP is not the greatest to test DNN performance by the way.

ATM, menu is static ... loong story, don't want to get into it :) So the templates do not really include a menu. As for ajax modules, I haven't even gotten to that yet. Nothing has partial rendering enabled either atm.

Interesting ... I'm running all the latest updates on windows tho, and disabling the phishing filter has no effect from what I can see.

I also realize that my dev instance may not be the best test bed, but the live server is showing the same issues (http://www.urbnet.com). I feel much safer trying to diagnose the issue on my dev instance rather than the live one.
