Hi to all!

We also installed the latest version of DNN in our godaddy host and I was trying to test if the Newsletter module is working. Unfortunately, no email was sent. Are there settings that we need to configure like SMTP? If there are, whare can we configure them?

Thank you very much!

Hi Bobbit Angeles,

Glad to hear you are all installed. Yes, you will need to configure SMTP settings. Log in to your portal using the Host account.

Host >> Site Settings >> Advanced Settings >> SMTP Server Settings

I am using a Deluxe Hosting account with goDaddy and I'm not exactly sure what the difference in features are between the varying levels of hosting accounts in regards to SMTP. However, with the Deluxe account, my smtp settings are smtp.myDomain.com.  You should sign in using basic authentication providing your username and password you use to log in to your control panel account. You can check your DNS settings once you have logged in to your hosting account to see what they have set up for you, though it is probably the same.

I have also found that you can use smtpout.secureserver.net (GoDaddy Help File), but you are limited to 250 relays per day.

Hope that helps! Good Luck.

I had the same problem as tammimh.  But I first got an error informing me that it could not write to the  web.config file.  AFter I refreshed the page the error below now comes up.  I am attempting to install 4.3.3 as well if that makes any difference. I will try a fresh restall again tonight, but was just wondering if I am missing anything.

Hi

I recently tried a fresh installation of 4.0.3 package on the root of my godaddy account.
Again, I followed your instructions as described on the web.(http://www.northernstarsolutions.com/Default.aspx?tabid=61)
now I get this error:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The type initializer for 'DotNetNuke.Data.DataProvider' threw an exception.

I deleted and recreated my database and changed the settings on the web.config file accordingly, but still I get this error message.

could you help???

Updated the isntructions for installing the latest version of the DNN Framework (4.3.3).  There is an additional folder that needs to be created before hand.  The App_Code folder needs to be given read and write permissions.

I have noticed that many people are running into an issue from not preparing their web.config file.  Hosting providers such as Go Daddy do not allow the root directory to be directly written to by Asp.Net.  As the web.config file sits in the root directory, it cannot be written to.  In order to solve this problem you need to prepare your web.config.  Currently the easiest way is to perform a local install and then use that web.config file.  I am still working on a utility to automate the web.config alterations however currently chasing down a bug with it.

After re-reading these instructions they do have some good merit to them, however please note that if you do change the customErrorsMode to OFF you should reset it to RemoteOnly once the installation is complete.
