Hi

I recently tried a fresh installation of 4.0.3 package on the root of my godaddy account.
Again, I followed your instructions as described on the web.(http://www.northernstarsolutions.com/Default.aspx?tabid=61)
now I get this error:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The type initializer for 'DotNetNuke.Data.DataProvider' threw an exception.

I deleted and recreated my database and changed the settings on the web.config file accordingly, but still I get this error message.

could you help???

frostphoenix,

From your screenshot, you appear to be logged in which would indicate that you do indeed have connection to the Database, as that's where the log in information is housed.

You stated that you installed DNN and then you pull up a page. When you first opened the site what did you see prior to logging in? Did it look the exact same as the screen shot?

Please provide the little details from the install to the screen shot and we'll see what we can do to get you through this.

Thanks,

Briana Tarrance

tamimh,

From all of the great information found in this thread along with my own trial and errors, I have created a walk-through documenting how to install a DNN portal on a GoDaddy root account. I really tried to cover all the areas that I thought were overlooked or possibly just assumed to be understood. My intent was to document the steps from the very beginning so that anyone with any level could do this. Please look it over and let me know if it helps or causes you any confusion, etc.

I would suggest that you completely zero out everything, the databse and the online files. Please read my article and attempt to install again, step by step. I tested this several times and it works for me, I am curious to see if this will work for others as well and also to identify scenarios where the instructions may not work.

I know it's frustrating...it took me about a week to get everything installed in a manner that satisfied me. Just try to be patient, this thread and community is very active and helpful...I know we'll get you through it in no time.

Let me know how the article works for you. Good Luck!

tamimh,

Thankfully, this is a great community. I am floored, honestly, by the level of participation and help offered by the members here. I completely know how you feel about sleepless nights of frustration. I was in the same boat. If I weren't as stubborn as I am, I would have never got this done. So, I guess being stubborn isn't all bad!

Let us know how it's going when you get an opportunity.

Good Luck!

Briana
