I have tried install DNN 4.05.05 several times and I get stuck always in the "Installing Database Scripts..." step. The bar progress is moving but nothing happens.
The page dont work, I get a java script error, and the images dont load. I am newbie, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

make sure, you have granted read, write, create and delete files and folders permissions for anonymous user ("Network Service" on Windows 2000/2003, "ASPNET" on WInXP) on your installation directory.

I have somewhat the same problem.  The scrips start to load and after some time "failure 400-Thread was being aborted"  comes up.  Nothing happens after that although it looks as if scripts are still loading.  Can you help?

I'm having the same probelm. Leupold, your fix did not work.

Out of desperation, I tried re-installing IIS on my XP Pro dev machine and running install/installwizard.aspx from that. No luck there either. I get some error about XML and XSLT not reading right because some un-named name had an illegal character at the start. All that has been created is 1 table in the database, but it has nothing in it. I still get the Javascript errors (Line 2, Syntax Error) and the images are still broken.

I've spent almost a week digging through the forums and trying to install this product, and thus far I have had no success. If I can't get this thing to work pretty soon, my boss is going to make me stop working on this project and go find something that works.

Ok... update to the above:

AFTER I reinstalled IIS on the machine, I got an error about not being able to access the metabase. Talk about odd. So, a quick search on Google (thank god for that thing!) revealed that after you install or re-install IIS on a machine where .Net has already been installed, you need to run the repair program for .Net. To do that, open a command prompt and navigate to C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework. Type cd v2* for .Net 2, or cd v1* for .Net 1*. Next, type aspnet_regiis -i. The repair will run, and then any metabase problems (or quite likely other .Net problems you may have been having) should be resolved.

Now... on to the next hangup in the install... some database install error... more to come...
