I get this error message after a successful installation and doing the first browsing of the site.

I've checked the permissions on the directories and these seem to be correct.

Any suggestions on what to try?

Sam

Thanks that set me on the right path.  I added two blank lines at the end of the file and it then loaded up the portal properly.

Latest version of 5 as of 3/30/3011, same problem, but not same solution. Did not get a fix via touching web.config to recycle the web app. Did not just upgrade anything either!

well, it turns out that something in our dnn installation is causing a checkDB command. Depending on the timing of this command in conjunction with other commands, it takes our database offline.

So although this error message was showing, the issue was our database.

Been tracking the checkDB cause. Turning off scheduled tasks and going from there.
