Hi,

I just tried to install a new instance of DNN 4.7 using the install wizard with the custom or typical setting. It gives a javascript error on the page where it is trying to install the database scripts...

The first error is with:

 

function reportAction(s)
{
    $('txtFeedback').value += s;
}

However if I comment that out I get an error with:

 

After some investigation I have discovered that because I am using the Visual Studio web server (ex-cassani) it treats all files as aspx including .js files and it therefore sends *.js files through then various HTTP modules such as UrlRewriter etc... this prevents the *.js files from loading.

The workaround for me was to setup a site in IIS to install it and then swtich back to using the VS web server.

This also explains why none of the images or style sheets were able to load.

Be great if this could be fixed... but in the meantime this might help some other people who I noticed having the same problem.

Hi All,

Is there something wrong with the DNN forums? I haven't been able to start a new thread for some days now... I always get the following:

An error has occurred.
Error: Add/Edit Post is currently unavailable.

Hence why I am replying to an existing thread because this still works!

Hi

I have been trying to install DNN - custom for past few days but it fails due to the same error that you have mentioned in your message.  Now it has been installed successfully without any issue.

I'm always using IIS for my sites rather than Cassini. I also use IIS Admin (XP only). I find this a much better "real world" solution.

As far as your posting error is concerned, please search the forums as the workaround has been posted.
