After an apparently successful upgrade from 4.5.5 to 4.7 all seemed fine, but then after upgrading the Forum module we started seeing an error when running the site:

Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Common.Utils.NetworkUtils' from assembly 'DotNetNuke, Version=4.5.5.0

We traced this to something constantly restoring the OLD dotnukenet.dll to the bin directory.  Whoever is rebuilding the site on demand when it is run restores the DLL.

Can anyone tell us how to fix this.  None of our experiments have helped.

Have you validated for sure that the actual version number on the DotNetNuke.dll shows the incorrect version?

If you have found that I would look at the modules that you have installed, investigate inside their installation packages to ensure that they don't have a dotnetnuke.dll file included in them.  if they do, that is the cause of your problem.

Otherwise if you are on a shared hosting plan and the file is getting restored I would check with your hosting provider to make sure they are not doing anything funky with data restores or anything.

Hi Mitchell,

I found your post here searching for a solution to my problem. I am running dotnetnuke 4.9.4, and I am having the following issue: very frequently (several times per day) my site is automatically redirecting to: http://www.365mammoth.com/Install/Install.aspx?mode=upgrade, with the following message:

Upgrading DotNetNuke
Current Assembly Version: 04.09.04
Current Database Version: 04.09.05

Upgrade Status Report
00: - Upgrading to Version: 4.9.4
00: - Performing General Upgrades

Upgrade Complete

The site is unavailable for several minutes, and then I can get back to the site normally.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue as the one above, but wondering if you could shed any light on how to resolve? Am I running an old dll assembly, and would an upgrade to 4.9.5 solve the problem, or is it perhaps a module as you state above, and if so, could you tell me where I would "investigate inside their installation packages to ensure they dont have a dotnetnuke.dll file included in them"?

Thanks foryour help.

Brian
