I followed the instructions in the pdf file for configuring .NET nuke. Then I brought up a browser instance on my PC and type http://localhost/DotNetNuke in the URL edit box. When I hit return, I expected smooth install but instead got the following error message. I can't figure out what the problem is. Please help:

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke' Application.

I've just started playing with 4.0.2 but from reading through the PDF I think this is the error you would get if you were running DNN 3.2.2 under ASP .Net 1.1.  You didn't say but it you are running DNN 3.2.2 I think you can remove the 'requirePermission' attribute.

Cheers,

No Cheers for me here today. I am installing version DotNetNuke 4.02. I have both Visual studio 2003 and 2005 installed on my system. I followed the instructions in the PDF file for the pdf install, but am still getting the same error message. I tried deleting the requirePermission attribute, but it is also on several other lines in the web.config file and is repeatedly flagged as an error. I tried deleting all of the requirePermission attributes but keep getting other tags/attributes flagged as un recocognized. Here are some others to name a few:

<system.codedom> <xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy"/><anonymousIdentification  <membership> <buildProviders>

If anyone has any other ideas on what might be wrong, please let me know.
