I give up.

I spent an hour trying to install DotNetNuke but the documentation is exceptionally poor.  The Installation Guide PDF spends a bunch of time talking about config file settings you won't change then breezes over really important issues such as the required settings for the IIS website.

Since the installation guide is so vague about important steps of the installation I shouldn't have been surprised when the installer ran into error after error.  Eventually I got stuck on the The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist error.  The solution is to give full access to everyone on the root of the website (this solution didn't work by the way).

If your install forum is the second largest forum and every thread is "HELP WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON" you may want to consider you have a very, very poor installer.

I want my hour back.  I'm off to other software.

I can understand the frustration with the DNN documentation.

I have taken the time to maintain a set of instructions for installing DotNetNuke that many people have found more helpful as I talk about the IIS Settings, SQL Server, and other aspects in detail.  You can view the guide at my website http://www.mitchelsellers.com, the tutorials are under my "Blog" section
